Sizing & returns.
Getting the fit right matters, especially for a ring that’s meant to be worn every day. Here’s how sizing, resizing and returns work for custom pieces.
Finding your ring size
The most accurate way to find a ring size is to be sized by a professional jeweler. I’m happy to help with this during your consultation.
Planning a surprise? A few options:
- Borrow a ring they already wear on the same finger, and I can measure it. Note which hand and finger it’s worn on.
- Ask a close friend or family member who may know their size.
- If you’re unsure, let me know. We can discuss the best approach for your design, since some styles are easier to adjust later than others.
Fingers change size with temperature, time of day and activity, and wider bands tend to fit more snugly than thin ones. I’ll take the design into account when we confirm your size.
I do my best to match the exact size you provide and will confirm it with you before production begins. Final fit depends on the sizing information shared, so please double-check it if you can.
Resizing
Many designs can be resized after they’re finished. Some can’t be easily, or at all, without affecting the design. Examples include eternity and full-pavé bands, certain intricate or channel settings, and some mixed-metal pieces. If your design falls into this category, I’ll let you know before we begin.
Depending on the design and the terms of your agreement, I may be able to offer a complimentary resize within a limited period after pickup. Any other resizing is quoted separately. Resizing timelines vary with the piece and workload.
Returns & exchanges
Every piece I create is made to order, for one person. For that reason, custom work is final sale: it can’t be returned, exchanged or refunded once work has begun. This includes deposits, except where required by applicable law or as otherwise stated in your written agreement.
This is also why I build in review points before anything is made. You’ll see and approve your design at the sketch and CAD stages, and you can see a wax model before casting.
Repairs & care
If something doesn’t seem right with your piece, please reach out and I’ll take a look. Concerns are reviewed case by case. Normal wear, accidental damage, loss of stones due to impact, loss of the piece, and alterations or repairs made by others are generally not covered.
A little care goes a long way. Remove your ring for the gym, swimming and cleaning, store it on its own, and have the prongs checked periodically.
